Dr. Tom Whiting developed this chicken whose feathers he could use for fly fishing.

While they may take longer to warm up to you than other breeds, their freedom loving nature allows them excellent self sufficiency in yards with little care from their owners.

The Whiting True Blue is a popular choice for backyard chicken owners looking for a beautiful and productive hen. These birds are well known for their stunning blue eggs which are a unique addition to any egg basket. True Blues are known for their friendly nature, making them a great choice for families with children. In addition to their striking appearance and pleasant demeanor, Whiting True Blues are also excellent layers, producing around 300 eggs per year, they come into lay early and reach maturity around 20 weeks.

This breed is sure to be a standout in any backyard flock, both for their looks  (they come in a variety of feather colours) and their egg-laying abilities.

As an added bonus we do have a very limited selection on sexed chicks at hatch.

My personal reason for chosing WTB as my blue egg breed, they have a higher egg production rate than other blue laying breeds, come into lay at a younger age and they come in a variety of feather colours.
